Chex Quest 2 Review
(Sequel to the first game)
History
Chex Quest 2 is a sequel to it's first game, Chex Quest, made by Digital Cafe as a freeware game after the success of the first game, later in the same year (1996).
Story
You are the same Chex Warrior. After you rescued the hostages in Bazoik, you return to planet Chex, your home. But things turned worse as you find out that the Flemoids invaded your Chex City! You grab your trusty zorcher and travel from location to another location until you find out who is behind all of this.
Gameplay
Similar to the first game, but this time you have new maps and enemies. Unfortunately, playing this in the original DOS mode has it's fair share of glitches and bugs. The maps look a bit more bland, enemies are more aggressive, ammo a bit scarce etc. You also have the same weapons from the first game, the BFG counterpart still hidden in a secret area. The final bosses are counterparts to two Barons of Hell in Doom.
Soundtrack
Far better than the first game surprisingly, even if the gameplay is not so great. My favorite track is in Map 3, Chex Museum by far.
Conclusions and Score
In conclusion, the DOS version of Chex Quest 2 is not that great, the saving factor of this one being the level soundtracks. I recommend trying it for the sake of trying, but if you want a better experience, try the renewed version made by fans. I give this one a 7/10 (DOS Version only).
